The Department of Public Works is responsible for and
is committed to maintaining the city's physical infrastructure
and providing quality services to the citizens of Hartford.

Mission Statement
The mission of Public Works is to create a safe and healthy environment through the implementation of infrastructure maintenance and enhancements of parks, roadways, traffic systems, municipal buildings, vehicles/equipment, flood control systems and the collection of solid waste and recyclables.
Sanitation Division
The principal goal of the Sanitation Division is to provide
waste collection services that result in a clean and healthy Hartford
environment and community.
Parks & Cemetery Division
The principal goal of the Parks Division is to maintain
approximately city parks and fields, cemeteries and trees that are used by
thousands of Hartford residents and visitors for recreation and improved
quality of life.
Street Services
The principal goal of the Streets Division is to keep roads,
sidewalks and rights-of-way clean and safe for vehicles and pedestrians.
Traffic
The goal of the Traffic Division is insure proper design,
maintenance, repair, construction of roadways to facilitate transport of
people and goods on city streets and sidewalks.
