Sanitation Division
The principal goal of the Sanitation Division is to provide waste collection services that result in a clean and healthy Hartford environment and community.
  • Weekly curbside collection of trash from all 1-6 family buildings, in 65/95 gallon gray carts.
  • Weekly curbside collection of single-stream recyclables from all 1-6 family buildings, in 65 gallon blue recycling carts.
  • Weekly curbside collection of no more than 5 items of bulky waste from all 1-6 family buildings.
  • Hartford’s Bulky Waste & Recycling Center open 9am – 3pm Tuesdays-Saturdays, where residents and small businesses can recycle, dispose of bulky items, dispose of electronic waste, pick up compost, drop-off leaves with no or low cost permits. See our on-line brochure.
    • Environmental educational materials for residents and businesses to improve recycling and proper disposal including offering tenant education for interested landlords. The educational topics, funded under a grant from the Connecticut Resources Recovery Authority (CRRA) include:
