Refuse Collector Permit Information
The City of Hartford adopted a municipal refuse collector registration
ordinance in March, 2009. It requires all collectors complete a registration
form and submit it to the Department of Public Works (DPW) with specific
documentation and fees in order for your company to continue to offer trash
collection and hauling services within the City of Hartford. You are
required to register every vehicle used in Hartford for waste and recycling
collection by October 30, 2011.

Upon receipt of all the registration documents, permit tags will be issued by
DPW. These must be placed on the left windshield of each vehicle.
The registration packet and fee should be sent to Jose Carrasco at City of
Hartford, Department of Public Works, 40 Jennings Road, Hartford, CT 06120 by
October 30. In conjunction with CRRA, the City of Hartford will initiate an
inspection program to insure compliance with refuse collector registration after
the deadline.
DPW also reminds collectors that they are required to comply with the city’s
Noise Ordinance, Section 23 of the Municipal Code.
